Badger Fencing Club is proud to offer parafencing as part of our curriculum — an adaptive sport that opens competitive fencing to athletes with disabilities, coached with the same care and standards as every program on our strip.
What Is
Parafencing?
Parafencing is an adaptive sport that modifies the standard rules of fencing to the needs of athletes with disabilities. Fencers sit in fixed-position wheelchairs that are locked into a frame on the piste at a specific distance, so the bout is decided by blade work, timing, and tactics rather than footwork.

At Our Club
Equipment Is Provided
New fencers can learn parafencing without buying any specialized equipment — the club supplies everything you need to get started.
Wheelchair Frame
A competition-grade frame on the piste locks each fencer’s chair securely in place at the regulation distance.
“Sword Seats”
Practice chairs that replicate the design of the competition setup, so you train exactly the way you’ll compete.
No Equipment to Buy
Beginners start with club gear — there’s no need to purchase specialized equipment to try the sport.
To compete in tournaments, fencers will eventually need their own specialized wheelchair — but that’s a step for later. You can begin, and progress a long way, entirely on club equipment.
